Odisha people call as ( Piaji) is a highly popular street food snack from Odisha essentially a type of savoury onion fritter. Piaji is a deep-fried snack, similar to the onion pakoda or chana dal vada. The name “Piaji” is derived from the Odia word “Piaja,”meaning onion.
Main Ingredients: The core ingredients include a coarse paste of soaked Bengal gram (chana dal), sliced onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies, mint leaves, and various spices like cumin and turmeric. The use of chanaa dal paste (rather than just gram flour/besan) is a key difference from other regional fritters.
